This Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) protects the services, customers, and infrastructure of RB-ddns. It supplements the other contractual agreements between the customer and RBApps e.U.
1. Scope
This AUP applies to the DynDNS and DNS hosting services provided by RB-ddns, the management of DNS zones and DNS records, automated DNS updates through the API, and support for DNS-01 challenges. It applies to both free and paid plans.
It covers all customers and all persons and systems to whom a customer grants use of the services. This includes, in particular, employees, agents, technical service providers, end users and, where applicable, subcustomers.
2. Principles of use
The services may only be used lawfully, securely, and in accordance with their intended purpose. Customers must take reasonable measures to protect credentials and API keys, keep their DNS records current, and prevent misuse through their accounts or domains.
3. Prohibited use
In particular, the services must not be used to:
- distribute, control, host, or facilitate malware, viruses, worms, trojans, ransomware, or other malicious software;
- enable phishing, identity theft, deception, fraud, or other misleading activities;
- send or technically support spam, unauthorised advertising, or other unsolicited bulk communications;
- operate, coordinate, or support botnets, DDoS attacks, port scans, reconnaissance attempts, or other attacks against systems, services, or networks;
- gain unauthorised access to third-party systems, accounts, data, or networks, or facilitate such access;
- circumvent or impair security, authentication, access-control, or usage limits;
- make unlawful content available or infringe copyrights, trade marks, personality rights, privacy rights, or other third-party rights;
- manipulate or misuse DNS or network infrastructure, or use it for other harmful, fraudulent, or high-risk activities;
- disproportionately impair the availability, security, or proper operation of the infrastructure, the services, or their use by other customers.
4. Compliance with laws, regulations, and sanctions
Customers are responsible for compliance with all laws and regulatory requirements applicable to their use. The services must not be used contrary to applicable sanctions, embargoes, export controls, or comparable restrictions. In particular, they must not be used to circumvent such restrictions or support prohibited persons, organisations, territories, or activities.
5. Security and abuse
Customers must not create or update DNS records that knowingly point to malicious, fraudulent, or unlawful destinations. If customers become aware of compromised credentials, abusive DNS records, or a security incident connected with the services, they must secure access without delay, renew affected credentials, and inform RBApps e.U.
6. Use by third parties and subcustomers
Customers are responsible for ensuring that all persons and entities to whom they grant access, or for whom they use the services, comply with this AUP. The actions and violations of these users are attributable to the relevant customer and may result in measures against the affected account, domain, DNS record, or service.
7. Reporting abuse
Suspected misuse can be reported through the contact form using the topic “Report abuse” or by email to mail@rb-ddns.net The report should, where possible, include the affected hostname or domain, a description, the time the issue was observed, and suitable evidence. Open the contact form
8. Investigation and enforcement
RBApps e.U. may investigate specific abuse reports and reasonably substantiated suspicions. This does not involve general or permanent monitoring of all customer content. Depending on the nature, severity, urgency, and impact of a violation, RBApps e.U. may take appropriate and proportionate measures, including:
- request information and require the customer to remedy the violation within a reasonable period;
- restrict or temporarily suspend individual DNS records, domains, API access, or other affected functions;
- immediately suspend the affected service in cases of serious, ongoing, or security-critical violations;
- terminate the service or contract within the applicable contractual and legal framework;
- preserve data or cooperate with competent authorities and authorised third parties where required or permitted by law.
Where the risk and legal obligations permit, RBApps e.U. will consider prior notice and an opportunity for the customer to remedy the issue when selecting a measure.
9. Changes to this policy
RBApps e.U. may update this AUP when the services, legal requirements, or security requirements change. The current version will be published on this page. Material changes will be communicated appropriately where required by the circumstances.
